Independent resort Description:
Although part of St Anton’s magnificent ski circuit the small resort of St Christoph is a major attraction in its own right. The tiniest of resorts - a handful of colourful old buildings cocooned in deep snow - St Christoph has a fairy tale quality not repeated anywhere in Austria.

Located right by the Arlberg Pass, this delightful hamlet belongs to the community of St Anton and is the highest of the five Arlberg resorts. The small village is very exclusive and offers all the benefits of a large ski area (the slopes of St Anton being reached by a six-man chairlift).

The village is home to Austria’s ski school and the local ski schools guarantee excellent tuition.

A highlight is the run down to the superb Hospiz Alm restaurant, where traditional local dishes and a warm welcome await you.

ST CHRISTOPH, AUSTRIA - UPMARKET RESORT IN DEEP SNOW

St Christoph gets incredible depths of snow. At 1800m and located in the biggest snowfall region in the Alps, St Christoph is often deep in snow. The ski holiday resort of St Christoph is compact and upmarket and the skiing takes place right out of the heart of the resort with a beginners ski area as well as the St Christoph ski lift that reaches up to Galzig and the St Anton ski area. Just above St Christoph the skiing is ideal for beginners and intermediates, the snow quality is often superb and the ski pistes are pretty gentle. Beyond the St Christoph ski area lies the St Anton and Stuben ski areas. Stuben is rated as having the best off-piste skiing and snowboarding in Austria, possibly the Alps whilst St Anton am Arlberg has some of the best steep skiing in the Alps. Both St Anton and Stuben are located just beyond the St Christoph ski area and can be accessed and exited on ski pistes. In the evening St Christoph is pretty quiet but for those needing some après ski, the Mooserwirt is on offer just over the ridge in St Anton; taxi rides back from here to St Christoph are pretty short.

Resort - independent

St Christoph in the Arlberg region of Austria forms part of the best ski area in Austria.
This ski resort is directly linked to St Anton by the ski pistes and by resort shuttle. St Christoph is located on the Arlberg pass between St Anton and Zurs. Being linked to the St Anton means that guests in St Christoph have a vast ski area to explore. The resort has reliable snow both early and late season given the altitude and its location in the Arlberg.

Accommodation in the compact resort offers easy access to the lifts and the slopes run right into the heart of the resort. Not nearly as big or vibrant as the neighbouring St Anton, the village is well suited to those who want a more sedate stay, whilst accessing the absolute pinnacle of Austrian skiing terrain.
Small, refined, traditional: a spacious yet very cozy mountain hut offering 700 guest beds. St. Christoph became famous in the 14th century when the shepherd Heinrich Findelkind built a hospice as a shelter against the whims of nature. Today St. Christoph offers a few hotels and inns. The evenings are best whiled away in rustic lounges where you can sample hearty dishes, fine wines and happy laughter.

• The ski resort is ski-in and ski-out.
• The lower slopes around the resorts cater for the intermediate.
• The resort ski area is joined to the vast and imperious St Anton ski region with all abilities catered for.
• The neighbouring ski resorts of Lech and Zurs are easily accessed by road through the dramatic Arlberg pass.

Resort and Apres Ski

• the resort is far more sedate than the neighbouring St Anton
• cross-country skiing
• limited shopping with far more choice in St Anton or Lech
• restaurants are mainly hotel based but open to the non-guest
